Marlborough Hospitality Services grew out of First Oriental Holdings Corporation (Singapore) Pte Ltd, a private equity firm that invests in and develops residential, commercial and mixed-use properties in Asia. Michael Evanoff was appointed Chairman of First Oriental in 2004, and starting from scratch Michael led First Oriental to profits in excess of US$ 50,000,000 in 2007-2008.

As First Oriental grew and diversified, Michael entered into a partnership with First Oriental’s parent company, the Libra Group, and launched Marlborough in 2009. In 2011, Michael purchased the Libra Group’s interest in Marlborough, and became the sole owner.

Marlborough provides a wide range of legal, consultancy and project oversight services to the hospitality and residential housing industries. The company specializes in giving legal and analytical advice to hotel developers, investors and hotel management companies, and in negotiating and documenting deal terms.

Since its inception, Marlborough has been involved in projects in Australia, Cambodia, the Czech Republic, Indonesia, Japan, Madagascar, the Maldives, Mauritius, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Marlborough team has handled hotel management agreement negotiations with virtually every major international hotel management chain, including Accor, Amanresorts, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Mandarin Oriental and Marriott.

In addition to providing transactional assistance, Marlborough offers a full menu of Technical Services, from preparing and refining the Area Program, assisting with the selection of consultants, reviewing designs and specifications, monitoring construction and outfitting, all through to preparing the snag list.
